If you hate crowded RV parks, listen up. Mowry State Park sits right on the southern shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene, and you literally cannot drive there. You need a boat. That single rule keeps the wild party crowds away, leaving 137 acres of steep, timber-covered ground almost entirely to yourself. Pack your dry bags tight. The park offers primitive campsites equipped with basic fire rings, wooden picnic tables, and vault toilets. You launch your craft, kill your engine at the public dock, and haul your gear up through thick stands of Douglas fir. It is quiet. Real quiet.
Anglers hit this shoreline for the cutthroat trout feeding near the deep drop-offs. But honestly Most people come just to swim off the dock or pitch a tent under the ponderosas after cruising the water all day. So bring your own firewood. The park does not sell any, and deadfall gets picked clean fast by mid-July. You get sweeping views of the lake without listening to your neighbor's generator humming at two in the morning. It's primitive, sure, but just barely enough to feel like an actual adventure.
